Got to work this morning and settled in, then a coworker came in and mentioned there was a decent sized puddle of coolant underneath the Mustang. Fabulous. I then get told by my cousin that the labor cost to fix the Miata will be $400. When looking for the coolant leak (spoiler alert: no idea where it is) I found my tires are INCREDIBLY worn on the inside and I am in dire need of an alignment. When it rains it pours and I become broke.

Kinja'd!!!

At least I got to start my day off with a SHO. These are surprisingly slow, considering the twin turbo V6 under the hood.

Feels Slow, Isn’t slow.

0-60 in 5.2 seconds and the quarter mile in 13.8 seconds... Not slow.

The plastic thermostat housing in the S197 4.0 V6 just LOVES to crack. Check hoses and whatnot as well, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that housing was done.

It just feels lethargic. Once the boost comes on its brutal but it takes awhile to get to that point.

Which is lame. I prefer slow cars that feel fast.

I had a coworker pressure test and check the housing for leaks before I bought the car and he said it was fine. The puddle was underneath the passenger side of the radiator.

To each their own. I like being able to beat people with a large slow looking car.

Engine makes peak torque from 1500-5000 RPM your point is moot.

Yeah, coworker told me about the magic that gives it instant boost. I dunno. It’s just not as brutal as a Camaro or Vette. The delivery is very similar to a slow Mercedes S600 V12 TT. Honestly not a fan. A Camaro can delight with just a blip of the throttle. A quick mash of the throttle in the SHO is just... whatever. It’s uninspiring.

That’s like comparing the Concorde jet to an F-15 Eagle. It was never intended to be brutal. It is however one of the most stable and pleasant to drive cars at 120mph that I have ever experienced, including a ‘15 Camaro SS 1LE and a 2008 Corvette. I will admit that the throttle tip in isn’t what it wish it was, but that is done for emissions and to match the sub luxury class the car finds its self in. The only time when the SHO exhibits brutality is when it beats up on V6 Convertible Mustangs.

Also you realize that even an early 2000's S600 V12 Twin Turbo is a 12 second car right? There’s a pretty big dichotomy between car you think are fast, and cars that are actually fast.

Holy shit have I ever struck a nerve. Imma grab some popcorn.

I don’t care about intentions. I never said anything about intentions. It feels slow. End of story. It’s stable at 120mph? Neato. Still feels slow when dicking around in the city. The Mustang jab was stupid. I’ve never claimed my car was fast compared to anything other than the cars I’ve owned in the past.

The S600 I was referring to was a range-topping 2005 model with a tune and methanol injection. The power comes on much the same as it does in a Taurus SHO. Less like you’re being blasted along by a rocket (which I consider fun) and more like a really REALLY powerful rubber band car (which, while effective, doesn’t give me the fizz).

Stop getting so damned defensive over something that’s mostly subjective. I enjoy explosive power. The SHO doesn’t have explosive power, so I don’t really like it. Seriously, it’s just 365hp in a car that weighs approximately the same as the titanic.

Lets be honest, none of the cars you’ve had in the past have ever been fast.

You could literally say that you wouldn’t know what a fast car is, even if you drove one.

Your statements thus far support this hypothesis.

That’s... that’s the point. I’ve only ever said my mustang is quick in comparison to what I’ve had in the past. Do you even reading.
